''Maulana'' Syed Mohammad Husaini مولينا سيد محمد حسينى was a senior Shia cleric and most prominent religious scholar of India. He was belonging to the renowned Qazi family of Banaras. He provided his valuable services to the Islam specially to the Shia community since an early age till last days of his life.
Maulana Al-Husaini was born in 1931 and passed away on June 11th in 2013. He was the elder son of ''Alam-ul-Aalam Maulana Qazi'' Syed Muzaffar Husain Husaini, who was the grandson of the last Qazi-ul-Quzaat (Islamic Chief Justice) ''Maulana Qazi'' Syed Bande Ali Husaini. His forefathers were mostly Islamic clerics who, throughout a period of two centuries, held the post of Qazi-ul-Quzaat in Banaras.
Maulana Husaini started his religious education at Jamia-e-Imania, and completed it at Jamiul-Uloom Jawadia, obtaining the high degree of ''Fakhr-ul-Afazil''. He subsequently contributed to disseminating Islamic education and the teaching of Shia Theology. He achieved the re-establishment of the Jamia-e-Imania Banaras school in 1983.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=History of Jamia-e-Imania )

As someone who has taught and trained a large number of religious students and Islamic Scholars, Husaini may be viewed as an ''Ustaz-ul-Asatizah'' (teacher of teachers). He wrote a number of books, including ''Tashnagan-e-Furat'', ''Aaeena-e-Hayat-e-Khumaini'', and ''Jaan-e-Baqiyyatullah''.
He founded Al-Iman Tahreek in 1984 as a social and religious organization by combining two precursor organizations: Anjuman-e-Tahzeeb-Al-Akhlaq and Tanzeem-Al-Shia.
Maulana Husaini left two sons behind him, the elder one is Maulana Syed Mohammad Zafar Al-Husaini سيد محمد ظفر الحسينى who is also a prominent religious scholar and a renowned religious orator خطيب, who holds at present the post of Imam-e-Juma إمام الجمعة of Banaras (the spiritual head and religious leader of Shia Community).Also he is performing sincerely his duties towards the progressive schemes of Jamia-e-Imania Banaras as a chief authority of the college, after the death of his father.
